Fannon: Shakur Is Finally Telling the Truth — and the Haney Drama Is Coming Back to Haunt Him

Credit where it is due — even if it arrives a week late and dressed up as damage control.

Fannon’s latest breakdown argues that Shakur Stevenson’s recent run of tweets is the closest thing to honesty the Haney saga has produced: an admission, in Fannon’s reading, that Turki Alalshikh never put the kind of money on the table the internet invented, and that the Saudi rescue fans keep waiting for was never real. “He telling the truth now,” Fannon says — before adding the obvious follow-up: why did the truth take this long, and why did the numbers keep changing while the fight kept not happening?

The Haney side of the video is uglier. Fannon argues the drama is coming back to haunt Devin: a reputation defended so aggressively, through so many public fights and legal threats, that it cost real money to protect — and a fighter now being told, in Fannon’s words, to “get your bread up” before he lectures anybody about business. The Ryan Garcia rematch talk got the same treatment: big history, big claims, and a price tag that keeps doing the negotiating.

But the sharpest cut was saved for the arithmetic. Fannon walked through the whiplash in Shakur’s own public numbers — willing to fight Haney for one figure in one breath, demanding a figure several times larger in the next — and treated it as what fans have been calling it all along: a moving target is not a negotiation. It is an exit.

That is the thread running through this entire saga on this site, and Fannon keeps pulling it. Two elite fighters, one obvious fight, and a paper trail of posts, prices and pull-outs that gets longer every time either man opens an app. The boxing is elite. The business, so far, is theater — and theater doesn’t unify anything.
