Forget the press releases. On Fannon’s latest video, Shakur Stevenson’s situation fits on a stopwatch. Per Fannon International Boxing Channel, Shakur has 22 days left to sign and set a date for his mandatory WBO lightweight title defense against Raymond Muratalla — or be stripped and join Tank Davis as a former champion with no belt to bargain with. The host calls it full pressure mode: the WBO gave him an extension, and the clock is running.
The Muratalla route is the one Shakur does not want, and Fannon explains why in dollars. That fight has already been priced in Shakur’s head at $7 million. If he can avoid Muratalla, he could instead take a Tank Davis fight, where the money is upwards of $15 million or $20 million. Avoiding one mandatory to chase triple the purse is not confusion — it is arithmetic. Fannon’s subplot is that the clock knows it, too.
The escape hatch exists, but handle it carefully — Fannon does. He says twice to take it “with a grain of salt.” Per the video, Shakur could appear on the Tank Davis versus Jake Paul undercard, a show Fannon says is also expected to feature Floyd Mayweather. Tank is locked in and training, per Fannon, and Turki Alalshikh has a business relationship with Jake Paul. Fannon also reports that Turki is trying to get Shakur a fight with Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz. But it is rumor-grade, and Fannon keeps flagging it that way.
The urgency underneath all of it comes from Alycia Baumgardner, whom Fannon paraphrases: a fighter cannot be a free agent forever. Time waits for no man. Tank, Fannon argues, may be the only fight out there big enough to draw real money for Shakur. There are 22 days on the clock, two belts’ worth of consequences, and one mandatory who is not going away. Sign, or be stripped — that is the whole menu.
