Keyshawn Davis Explodes on Hitchins and the Duck Talk: “Tell Him Keyshawn Said Fight Me”

Keyshawn Davis is done being quiet — and Richardson Hitchins is the reason why.

In a nine-minute video posted by FightHype, Davis went off on the fans calling him a duck after his fight with Hitchins fell apart, and he pointed the finger squarely at the other side of the table. He said he had stayed quiet as long as he could and even given people a pass — including, as he put it, with “the Devin situation” — but the talk finally got to him. “People is scary,” Davis said at the top of the video. “It’s getting on my f***ing nerves.”

“How could I be scared?”

The “ducking” label is what set Davis off more than anything. Stay silent, he argued, and he’s doing something wrong; speak up, and he’s doing something wrong. His position: nobody who does this for a living is afraid of getting hit. “Do y’all know we have our own gloves, my boy?” he asked. “Who is scared to get punched? What is y’all talking about?”

Davis pointed to his own history of pushing up on fighters at press conferences and weigh-ins — the same behavior that once had people calling him a bully. “Now I’m a bully now. How could I be scared?” At one point he fired a sarcastic shot at the idea of fearing “a rich kid that grew up to be even more rich,” sneering: “I’m scared of somebody like that. He’s terrifying.”

The résumé teardown

From there, Davis went straight at Hitchins’ credentials. He mocked Hitchins for going to the Olympics and losing on the first day — a line he repeated for emphasis — and said he would knock out the man who beat Hitchins at the Olympics, and the man who beat him in the pros, too.

“He went pro four years before me and I became world champion before him,” Davis said. “It took him 10 years to become a world champion. How long it took me? I gave up my belt, I ain’t lose it.”

And when the two of them do meet, Davis left no doubt about how he sees it: “When I fight, I’m whipping his ass.”

The contract story

The heart of the rant was Davis’ version of why the Hitchins fight died. According to Davis, Hitchins had been doing interviews saying the matchup was going to be a good fight — then flipped and started claiming Davis overpriced himself. Davis says the timeline doesn’t add up.

“Back in August, before he even started doing the interviews, I DM’d him,” Davis said, telling Hitchins to sign his contract. The reply he says he got: “Business will get handled soon.”

Per Davis, Hitchins never came back to say he had signed — because, Davis believes, he never signed at all. “He must have never signed it,” Davis said. “That’s why he’s finally calling out Brian Norman. That makes sense.” The Brian Norman Jr. callout is what opened the rant, too — Davis said it “blows my mind” that Hitchins is chasing the welterweight champion while their fight sits unsigned.

Old history, same accusation

Davis also rewound to the start of the year, saying Hitchins ducked him then — and that he ended up fighting Jamaine Ortiz because Hitchins didn’t want to fight Ortiz. After that fight, Davis said, he wanted Hitchins next. Nothing changed.

“I want my next fight to be you,” Davis said, addressing Hitchins directly. “I don’t want nobody else.”

“Tag him”

Davis closed by turning his audience into messengers. He told everybody watching to tag Hitchins and tell him to stop lying — Davis repeatedly used the word “wellin’,” and took a second to define it himself: wellin’ means lying. The message he wants delivered is simple.

“Tell him Keyshawn said fight me.”

Davis also said the move to 147 is his own choice, and he wants Hitchins to be his first fight there. On his telling, the contract was sent, the DM was answered with a promise, and the signature never came. Now he’s saying it as loud as he can — and daring Hitchins to prove him wrong.
