Deontay Leshun Wilder, born October 22, 1985, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is an American professional boxer. Per Wikipedia, he held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020 — by winning it, he became the first American world heavyweight champion since 2007, ending the longest stretch in boxing history without an American heavyweight champion.
Wilder took up boxing at age 20 and won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics, which gave him his nickname "The Bronze Bomber" — a play on Joe Louis, the "Brown Bomber." He is known as one of the hardest punchers in boxing history, with a knockout-to-win percentage of 95.55% — the highest in heavyweight championship history — and 20 of his knockouts coming in the first round.
