Schofield Sr. Claps Back: Wants Shakur Stevenson in Austin, Calls Mason Camp “Smoke and Mirrors”

Championships don’t make Floyd Schofield Sr. quiet. They make him louder — and this time, he’s got the belt to back it up.

In a new Mill City Boxing segment, Sr. celebrated his son becoming WBA lightweight champion after outpointing Lucas Bahdi, insisting Kid Austin “pitched a masterclass” — and took a shot at the broadcast commentators, who he says were biased all night.

Then he turned the fire on the two names hovering over the division. First, Shakur Stevenson: Sr. challenged him to fight Kid Austin on neutral ground in Austin, Texas — not Saudi Arabia, not on somebody else’s terms. A straight-up fight, champion to champion, on home soil. Second, Abdullah Mason’s camp, which Sr. dismissed as “smoke and mirrors.”

Sr. also laid out the roadmap: he predicts Mason takes the Zepeda route first while Team Schofield pursues unification — and confirmed they’re open to any world champion. He even said they sent for Gary Russell Jr., who he believes will actually fight. Notice the pattern: everybody who wants real fights gets a call. Everybody else gets called out.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again — Sr. is speaking the truth. The Schofields aren’t hiding behind mandatories or lowball offers. They fought for the vacant title, they won it, and now they’re calling out the two biggest names in the division on even terms. That’s what standing on business looks like.

Shakur wants to talk about who’s scared? Austin, Texas. Neutral ground. The challenge is on the table.
